Emergency Update: Lilac Fire 2025

Fire Update January 23
Evacuations orders have been lifted. Fire crews completed constructing control lines and the fire is 100% contained per CAL FIRE.

Fire and Office Update January 22
Evacuations orders have been lifted and the the Rainbow Water office is open as of January 22.
Old Highway 395 remains closed between Dulin Road and West Lilac Road.

Office Closed on January 21
The Rainbow Water office is closed due to the Lilac Fire.
Staff is available by phone to assist customers at (760) 728-1178. 

Meetings
The Communications and Customer Service Committee meeting  scheduled for January 21 is canceled.

Emergency Response

  • Rainbow Water staff is working 24 hours a day with local fire and emergency agencies to assist with fire response efforts.
  • The latest fire and evacuation notice information can be found on the Watch Duty app and the CAL FIRE website.
  • Receive precise location alerts for evacuation areas and emergencies with Genasys Protect, a mobile app for customers in the North County Fire District. Read more and download the phone app.
  • San Diego Department of Animal Services and Humane Society are at the fire staging area to assist with evacuation response. Read more about pet disaster preparedness on the San Diego Humane Society website.

Water Supply & Facilities

  • Rainbow Water is collaborating with fire agencies to provide reliable water supply for all water connections.
  • All water lines and hydrants are active at the evacuation zones and throughout the service area.
  • Due to the previous PSPS event notice, staff proactively filled water tanks.
  • Generators are in place at pump stations as backup power to maintain the flow of water throughout the service area.
  • Rainbow Water’s Aerial Water Supply (RAWS) tank or heli-hydrant at Pala Mesa tank is filled and supplies critical water for aerial water drops. RAWS enables helicopter pilots to access up to 5,000 gallons of water within two minutes via an automatically filled open-top tank supplied by Rainbow Water’s infrastructure.
